The Liberals deserved it, they need a new leader and this is a big wake up call. The NDP deserved what they received as well. But thankfully we won't waste more of taxpayers money on elections until 2015!

Why is everyone ragging on Facebook for this?

It's not as if they invented it.

Foursquare, Loopt and Gowalla have had these types of apps for many many months.

because it's turned on by default. it should be off by default (IMO) and then turned on as an option. many people aren't aware that Facebook's new "features" are almost always on when rolled out.

Let's hope some military money goes toward improving Macs and iPhones for civilians, too.

I wonder if Apple will tell the army what a great 3G provider AT&T are?

regarding tariffs: the problem isn't the important goods for the US: it's the lack of exporting goods

also a lot of the US car industry themselves is also heavily dependant on imported supplies as it can been seen since the japanese tsunami: quite a few of US brands had to stop some production lines (additionally to the japanese brands)

So when everyone buys hybrids and the gas tax revenue dries up we will be forced to pay for how far we drive. The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has a suggestion for raising money to fix the nations highways: tax drivers based on how many miles they drive each year.

In a report written in response to a request from Senate Budget Committee Chairman Kent Conrad (D-North Dakota), the CBO laments about the shortfall in the federal budgets appropriation for highway maintenance and reckons its time drivers start footing the bill based on how often their foot is on the gas pedal. The driver would be charged according to the number of vehicle miles traveled (VMT) above that which he is allowed under appropriately promulgated guidelines.
The 26-page study is entitled (none to cleverly) Alternative Approaches to Funding Highways and goes into some detail regarding the new tax scheme and the benefits and challenges thereof.

About 25 percent of the nations highways, which carry about 85 percent of all road traffic, are paid for in part by the federal government.... reads the opening line of the paper. In other words, why should the federal government, already so strapped for cash, keeping paying so much for the highway while those who use them get a free ride?

let's be honest, taking the 3GS out of the equation finally and replacing it with a lower-end or even just a smaller iPhone 4 with a larger size model would be nice change. a smaller model would appeal to many customers who are constantly outdoors, athletic, or would simply welcome the smaller size to fit in skinny jeans. plus a lower price point would make it accessible to many more customers who find the $199 and $299 just out of their reach. a larger iPhone 4 with a potential OLED screen, larger storage capacity, even better camera system (front, back, or both), higher quality and louder speakers, and maybe even a scaled down version of the iWork apps, would appeal to gamers, hardcore Apple fans, businessmen and women, families, and entrepreneurs. don't doubt the appeal of a little change in size...

What is pissing me off at this stage is not that the console launches tomorrow or fears over shortages etc, it's the fact that 95% of the launch titles haven't even made it to review which is never a good sign.

I suspect we are going to see a lot of turkeys tomorrow.

I've seen a few reviews, ONM gave everything like 8 or 9 out of 10 (no surprises there) and everyone else gave everything 6 out of 10 at most. Pilotwings is the most disappointing, as apparently it's less than an hour long...

I see that Joystiq and Gamespot and a few other sites (IGN) are starting to put reviews up too, but I'm not that interested in the launch titles! I want to get back to Okamiden and Pokmon White!

I think there's plenty of consoles to go around, my order is at "dispatching soon" on Amazon, and other people already have theirs!

Not interested - the Tom Tom app is great, and I don't have to worry about data coverage. When you drive around in rural areas, it can definitely be a big issue. There are plenty of much cheaper apps that download maps on the fly. Free traffic is a plus though - that may be the one selling point. I have to pay a yearly fee with Tom Tom.

    From Macworld, Oct. 19th 2006..

According to IDC’s report, the growth puts Apple’s market share at 5.8 percent (fourth place overall), ahead of Toshiba at 4.2 percent. Dell topped the U.S. market with 31 percent, but suffered a negative growth rate of -6.7 percent. The top 5 is rounded out by HP with a 22 percent share and Gateway with a 6 percent share.

Apple's 5.8% marketshare would be far higher if it wasn't for the corporate bulk-buying of PCs for business; plus all the end of line, bargain-basement PCs that may figure in any such report.

Can somebody explain to me why anybody would want to pay $100/year for an email account with only 1 GB of storage?

Because you love Apple and want them to be really profitable and design more wonderful stuff and take over the world and you can say you were ahead of the curve rather than having to explain why a computer needn't crash! Or maybe you just got $100 to burn and you could do worse!;)

Um, no it doesn't Fuji S1, S2, S3 RAW Files are not supported. This camera is used by more wedding photographers than any other.

That's a pretty big call. I don't know how accurate that is. Anybody agree, or have any data to support that?

Thanks kainjow. That gives me an idea. I need to fly back to Chicago. There is this black hole period between 6 to 11 P.M. pacific where no flights leave for Chicago (because departures during that time put the landing time in Chicago when the airport there is closed for landing.) I need to leave before that, take the red-eye, or leave Saturday. If most of the stuff will be done by 2 or 3 P.M. then I can try for that last flight before the black hole sets in.

When do they publish the actual schedule as to what happens on each day?

As ITR 81 already mentioned, they are already often selling at below their cost to attract customers. They don't have any room to go lower unless the studios drop their prices.

thats true and I agree, however best buy often offers much lower prices, which attracts me to them, hell I'm a loyal customer regardless of how crappy of a company it may be.
